The Queer Food Growing Collective’s mission is rooted in a Black feminist ethos that recognizes the intersectional nature of queerness and food insecurity. We grow food as a radical act of resistance to the intertwined forces of systemic racism, homophobia, and socioeconomic marginalization. Our aim is to foster resilience through holistic attention to the mind and body, realized by care for the land and our community.

Our collective’s efforts reject the capitalistic, hierarchical practices that have historically divided the land and its people, looking to restore our connection to the earth and celebrate the infinite diversity among us. Our spaces are places of acceptance and authenticity, where queer people can feel empowered as their true selves.

We want to recover the ancestral knowledge of medicinal and nutritional well-being, rebuilding community consciousness of knowledge lost or erased under colonialism and racial apartheid. We cultivate healing through the mending of our relationship to the land, understanding the healing power of remembering our inherent connection to the natural world and serving our queer population through the forming of communal garden projects.
